RVN: The shop window – and why the node has to be yours
Three days. The bridge. The bill. Now the shop window.
The brochure says innovation, food security, resilience. One app, one chain, one centre. Efficient. Until Sunday afternoon.
Albert Heijn switched systems off as a precaution. Fresh gone. Site down. Four days before the tomato was back. France: freezers on software without updates. Japan: records via a supplier. Yandex: three halls, taxis gone. The Suurhoffbrug: 6 billion in road tax, and over the hard shoulder.
Scale was called efficiency. One link fails, the chain stops. That is not efficiency. That is a single point of failure with a logo.
What the Accu Manifest already said
Overhead. Dependence. A system that breaks when the centre fails. Not theory. Ahold is the living proof. The tax came in. The second line did not.
Why decentralisation
Not because big is always bad. Because one node that carries everything is not a backup. It is a bet.
Your own node. Your own data. A hash you can check yourself. A server in the meter cupboard that does not go down when a supplier in Moldova or a thermostat in France fails. No boycott. A second leg.
The Open Internet Manifest builds that. Nexus, local AI, clean hashes, your own infrastructure. Not because we hate the shop. Because the brochure does not fill the shelves when the plug is pulled.
OIM way out
Do not ban the centre.
Do build the second line.
Whoever does not have the node, has the shop window.
Whoever does have the node, has the count when the shop window closes.
Question for you
If one Sunday takes the tomatoes…
where does your second leg stand?
