Since Sunday afternoon. Albert Heijn, Etos, Gall & Gall. Ahold calls it a cybersecurity incident. Systems switched off as a precaution.
App, site, customer service, delivery: down. Personal bonus: off. Shelf labels still show last week’s offer, the till charges full price. Distribution centres are at a standstill. The ceo says: empty shelves are realistic.
In the store on the Dam the bonus card stutters and the card payment takes ages. That is not the app on a phone. That is the network between store and head office.
Two possibilities. The incident is large. Or the backup is too thin. Neither is a good sign for the shop where half the country gets its food.
