Europe is on fire because of climate change. Record heat, drought and โglobal warmingโ are presented as the only explanation. Politicians and media call for more climate measures.
Reality:
In France alone, 375 people have been arrested this summer in connection with wildfires.
Of those, 142 are minors (almost 40%).
Earlier figures (late July) already spoke of 162 arrests, with a large share of young people and repeat offenders.
In Spain, Greece and other countries, arrests have also been made for both deliberate arson and gross negligence.
These are not isolated incidents.
This is a significant portion of the fire outbreaks caused by human action โ intentional or through recklessness.
Yet the dominant story remains: โitโs the climate crisis.โ
The hundreds of arrests, and especially the high percentage of minors, receive almost no structural attention.
The pattern
When the cause is complex (drought + human action), the human contribution is systematically marginalised.
It does not fit the simplistic climate narrative.
So it disappears into the background.
