1. Lab-leak: private vs public
As early as January 2020, Fauci writes in his diary that the Wuhan market was likely not the source, but merely the amplifier.
He notes conversations with scientists, some of whom thought the virus looked “constructed.”
At the same time, he publicly dismissed the lab-leak theory for a long time as a conspiracy theory.
2. Gain-of-function and the move
In 2014 the Obama administration placed a moratorium on risky gain-of-function research inside the United States, partly because of previous lab incidents.

Fauci’s institute played a central role in the funding.
3. The prizes and the misuse of federal staff
During the pandemic Fauci received large sums of money, including the Dan David Prize of nearly $900,000.
Documents show that federal NIH employees (paid with taxpayer money) wrote the nominations for him, handled the ethics procedures, and coordinated the payments.
Internal emails included lines such as:
“Congratulations….you’re rich!” and “I want my 15%.”
This is not a minor detail.
Using government employees for personal enrichment and prestige is, at the very least, a serious integrity violation.
4. The pattern
Privately: doubt, strategic thinking, focus on status and money.
Publicly: absolute certainty, “I am the science,” criticism = an attack on science itself.
